Does Islam discourage women to be photographed?

I am speaking about family photographs and women who wear the full veil. Do they have family photographs without the veil for instance that they would show to visitors to their homes etc.

I know there is no objection to photographs if these women are veiled. Do their older male relatives ever see them without the veil.

Answer:
I know that no one in my Egyptian family does this. There are family photos of several generations in my mother in laws house but all are wearing traditional bridal white.

Interestingly when she married and for several years after, she didn't wear hijabi as she says no one among her friends and relatives did at that time (in the late 50s) but all her daughter's have chosen to.

I am a westerner who has reverted since my marriage, and our wedding photo is up there among the rest.

Even though, I do admit I am wearing a dress that I probably wouldn't wear now I have reverted to Islam.

I really think it is up to the family and their cultural background and attitudes as well as their religious beliefs and values.

addit: My husband has just told me that many of the people he knows wouldn't have photos so prominently displayed as his Mother does. But they would keep them in a family album.

Hail the the word from the wise!

Answer:
veiled women do not place photos showing them unveiled in the living room.

once a woman is veiled , she isnt supposed to show her hair or her photo without a veil.

the whole idea is that hair is one of the biggest assets a woman has to show her beauty.

she is ordered by religious law to cover it so that no man other than her father, brother, uncle, father inlaw would see it and admire her beauty.

it is this admiration that has to be avoided.

Answer:
Yes Islam discourage women to be photographed and use this photos for fun

I think so

Answer:
it is generaly OK, if you keep it in a safe place.

like an album.

it is NOT okay to hang up ANY photo on the wall, or to have anything of human nature on he walls [ flowers are ok though =]

Answer:
i believe you can make photos, but if they are showing a woman with no head cover and on daily basis she wears a scarf then these photos shouldn't be showns in public. however in my family-in-law they have many many photos from different occassions, and they always run with cameras like Japanese ppl (sorry for all Japanese for comparison). becaus of this we always have great memories long time after the event.

about older relatives yes, they can see them, but if you mean father, uncle, brother. cousin no cause she can marry him, brother in law no cause of the same reason, etc.

Answer:
