G’day, I want to learn more about your country . . . .! …
Out of your little ‘corner of the world’ what are the 5 BEST things about living there?
Also name 3 things you don’t like about it, or would want to change.
Thanks Mate
Answer:
Based on my previous experience of living there for 3 years, best things are tax-free and high salary for expat, free medical services and good highway system.
Bad things? maybe just the lack of opportunity for women to have jobs - really limited options e.g. nurses, female doctors strictly for female patients only, bank officers in female section….
Answer:
I am syrian and i have been living in saudi arabia since 1990. the best five things in saudi arabia :
1- it is cheap country and they pay high salaries
2- there are no taxes, u can live fancy easily
3- it has both modern lifestyle and traditional life styles. for example: after a work-day u can go to malls, sit in a cafe. Or u can drive ur car and go to ( PA'AR ) desert to relax
4- low criminal rate , safe
5- little or no racism comparing to other countries
the worst things are:
1- bedwens some times are not that educated and can misunderstand you
2- women can't drive
3- many places are only for families , singles can't use these facilites
Answer:
Pro….
1. There are hundreds of different nationalities living in Saudi, therefore learning and experiencing different cultures.
2. No taxes, exceptional free health care (for nationals).
3. People are generous and kind, will help if they can (regardless of stereotype).
4. The Saudi government, even with it's bad rep. is very generous and helpful to it's people.
Cons….
1. Too much monopoly, rising prices.
2. No regard to the social laws (legislative or religious).
3. Progress and change is too slow.
4. Too closed off, and older Saudis are not willing to let go of their conservative patterns.
Btw, thanks for showing an interest. It says allot about you and I welcome you to visit Saudi…. ![]()

I love the high moral standards of people..
Low low crime
majority of people are friendly and welcoming
good paying jobs
now tax
good healthcare
shopping is excellent, we import almost everything from all corners of the world, you can find anything you want here, from food goods, clothing, electronics etc
its culture and history is amazing
it houses the kabba the house that Abraham and his son built together which makes religion come alive in our hearts
…
cons
heat, heat and more heat.. 120F in summers is a killer.. You have to really be prepared for this
..I hate not being able to drive (im female)
I hate the tradition of wearing a black cover (I want white like the men, especially during that 120F heat) the covering I dont mind, its the color.. SHEESH!…
the rate of which they hire illiterate foreigners to overrun this country.. they need a cap on unskilled laborers.. its like 10 to every Saudi.. You'd probably think this country is India.
The traffic.. worlds rated #2 or #3 consistantly as the worlds worst.. If they crack down on traffic and actually police it better and force the citizens to obey traffic laws, things would go smoother..
and my altime worst con… The store hours.. businesses dont open till 9:30 or 10am.. they close at 11:30 and remain closed till 4pm.. and then right after they open, they seem to close 1 second later for the first evening prayer… Which makes for everyone driving like maniacs to get to where they want before store prayer time closings… Which I dont understand why they cant adopt an approach like Bahrain where there are more than one shop keeper and if they need to pray, one watches the register while the other prays and they trade off and the stores remain open.. We as customers can get in and out easily and if we choose to pray, we can at our leisure and no rush… No traffic accidents do to the rushing, and things and attitudes generally are better..

I love the endless and peaceful dessert.
I love the colourful character of the people- you can never be bored.
I love the way problems can be solved in a less formal way, i.e. the tribal nagotiations. Lower need for lawyers.
I love the fact that the salaries, with respect to the cost of life are good————I dont want the price of products/ rents to rise more! We will become like Europe,,,,,too expensive, even for its own people.
I love the fact that the sheikhs in the masjeds, are -in majortiy-very educated and helpful to community problems, they really reflect a clear spirit to all —-but the alhaya need serious filtering! They do not - at large- inspire any more.
I love the struggle of the young people to rise in good positions——but I am dissapointed that it is hard for them to find a job in the private sector, thus most of them being routed to the public sector and some left unemployed.
Thus, I would prefer that private companies hired more local youth and not just go for a foreigner, because they are cheaper.
Can I add more?
I love Taz Mataz. and I would love more train rides like the one from Dammam to Riyadh. There one can really appreciate the nature and the small towns-villages- inbetween the large cities. We need more train rides.
Finally, despite the fact that I think that the youth should be more controlled when driving- they do some seriously good stunts!:)

Hi
I am a Saudi and I appreciate more answers from non-saudies. my answers would be biased.
But, stating 5 Best are not enough. And, 3 things to change, are also not enough. Ten would be a good number.
Thanx
