G’day, I want to learn more about your country . . . .! …

Out of your little ‘corner of the world’ what are the 5 BEST things about living there?

Also name 3 things you don’t like about it, or would want to change.

Thanks Mate

Answer:
Hi K Bear. I dont understand why you ask about South Africa. You answered one of my questions the other day where I was begging to get out of here. Maybe thats why you want to know? But its really bad here. Although Bobbyampm is funny and does bring up alot of good point about how bad South Africa is, he clearly does not live here.

It is not safe in the white neighbourhoods, in fact it is even worse. Our delightful leader of the ANC has told his blind followers that it is ok to steal from the white because we did it to them, and we have it coming to us. So the white neighbourhoods are continuously plagued be robberies and violent crimes.

You also need to understand about violent crimes. It not just being pistol whipped or tied up. You get tortured. My friends parent were robbed on Sunday morning, 5 armed gun men. The tortured her father and mother. Burning him with an iron, kicking him in the face and body. They threatened to rape her. An old women of 68. I have heard of stories hwere they cut off their victums fingers with garden shears. And then only steal a cellphone and some pocket change. Its almost as if they do it just to be mean, not really for the need of money.

You ask about the 5 best things, Ill tell you what my 5 best are.

I can drink and get totally wasted and still drive home without being caught. If I do, I blink my eye lids and bribe the cop.

I can lie to the banks about my income and apply for home loans at the 4 different banks, because they are so lazy they dont check that I have applied at the other's.

I can jump red robots late at night because my excuse of being scared to stop is valid and I will not get fined for it.

I get to sit around at work and be unproductive because we have so many power failures I cannot do my work.

I can buy a gun/drugs/what ever i want without needing a license or fear of being caught coz chances are, Im buying them from cops anyway.

3 Things I dont like:

The exchange rate, it means my move out of here is going to cost me an unbelievable amount of money because I earn peanuts compared to international standards.

I dont like that I have to sleep with ear plugs at night because every little noise I hear scares me to death, because any moment it could be someone trying to break in and kill/rape me. Its the only way I can get sleep.

I dont like that our stupid goverment was too busy making themselves rich to realize that our power stations would not cope, and now I sit at night with no electricity. Which means my electric fence is off, my security lights are off, and I cannot see someone coming into my yard to kill/rape me. You know the the police commisioner said just this morning. The police are not going to take any extra causion during blackout as it is too sparadic and they cant be everywhere at once!

So mate, now will you help me get out of here. If I dont get out soon, I may die, or my soul may die, or I will kill someone.

Answer:
5 best:

1. The people

2. Braais with friends

3. African Music, Djembes & Marimbas & Dancing - good

stuff! African Art, the sculptures and paintings - original!

The creativity and inventiveness of the people - some of the

greatest entrepeneurs of the world.

4. A South African sunset - be it across Table Bay,

Noordhoek, from the top of Table Mountain or over the

Karoo, you'll never experience something quite like it.

5. The Sports and Hobbies - doing or watching.

3 worst:

1. Crime

2. Politics

3. Did I mention the out of control crime and criminally incompetent politicians busy destroying a truly blessed country and responsible for the emigration of over a million people in the last decade?

Answer:
You can categorize them!

I would have to say a lot of black people suffer in this country and crime has reached its peak.

They have like 10000 private security agencies. I have never seen anything like this in the States. The security agents are allowed to carry guns. They look like police officers. Really scary but their job is to protect you. Almost every domicile has a security alarm system. You feel safe in the white neighborhoods!

When you exit almost any shop they have to check your purchased items to make sure you didn't steal. They check your receipt at the exit! Can you believe it? In some stores they check you at the entrance.

They love Mercedes and BMV. The cars are just too expensive and the funny thing about it they make these cars here.

Black people were really left behind just like in the USA. A lot of them didn't go to school or didn't get proper schooling. I think that might explain why the crime rate is so high. Illegal immigrants contribute to this too.

McDonald's food sucks! It just doesn't taste the same as in the USA. I thought every franchise used the same ingredients!

The phone system sucks! Eveybody has a prepaid cell phone but they can't afford to make calls. It costs like $0.50 per minute to use your cell phone or your land line during peak hours. Come on people! This is outrageous!

The taxi drivers think they own the roads. They drive like maniacs. They change lanes like they were drunk and they don't wait for the stop lights to completely change. You'll have to see this; it's kinda funny if you're a dumb head.

Black police officers are underpaid. That explains why you feel safe in the white neighborhoods.

The towing companies wait next to the roads for accidents to happen. Really funny!

You can really make it out here if you've got a brain!

Problems with Illegal immigrants just like in the USA with Mexicans.

Public transportation is left to poor blacks and immigrants.

The banks close at 3:30 p.m.

Slavery has taken a new form; now blacks are getting paid. I feel really sorry!

Things are getting better. I think by 2010 this country will be the greatest in Africa. Well it's the greatest but we've got a long way to go.

bobbyampm: ALL police officers are underpaid, not just black police officers.

And "white neighbourhoods" are not safer because they're white. I live in the center of Cape Town. Where it should be "safer" But guess what: I've been mugged 3 times and attacked twice. So I suggest you try you're answer about black and white again.

I've never had my slips checked when leaving a shop, so would love to know where you shop.

"Public transportation is left to poor blacks and immigrants"

Answer:
Chickibo- you sound like a criminal.

If you do not stop the hatred that you have in your heart, it will destroy you.

I am a black South African and some unspeakable things were done to some of my family and people I know during the apartheid regime, but I cannot hate the or be mad at the whole of SA for that.

My thanks to the people who answered this question positively.
