G’day, I want to learn more about your country . . . .! …
Out of your little ‘corner of the world’ what are the 5 BEST things about living there?
Also name 3 things you don’t like about it, or would want to change.
Thanks Mate

Out of my little corner of the world:))
I live in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. The UAE is a young (just 50 years) old country and is just amazing. There are hundreds projects ongoing which keeps your breath away. I am sure you'll be able to find them on the net so I will not waste my time telling you about the shoppers paradise, Burj Al Arab, Emirates Tower, Emirates Palace etc. etc.
The 5 best things? Well, one very good thing are the leaders of the Emirates. Especially the late Sheik Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi who founded the UAE and Sheik Mohammed bin Rashi Al Maktoum who is wise a leader with a big heart and a very good vision of the country's future.
Emirats enjoy many benefits as there are free education, free medical care and under certain circumstances the Government provides you with a nice big villa.
Expats enjoy a tax free salary and many of them (mostly Westerners) enjoy also a great salary package including. housing allowance, transportation etc. In Abu Dhabi it is also mandatory for the employer to provide healthcare on the company's costs for the employee, the spouse and up to 3 children. Where else do you find this?
The UAE is a multi-culti society, where it is possible for all Nationalities to live together peacefully. Also when the UAE is an Islamic country, it is so open to accept other people to live and worship their own Religion. We have churches and temples here and their are no restrictions on any Religions. Just like in many other Arab countries, Israelis are not allowed to enter the country and there is a ban on Israeli goods. But otherwise………..
The crime rate is very, very low and you feel safe not matter where you go.
Regarding peace the UAE is on place 38 worldwide and ranked place three regarding the most peaceful countries in the Middle East.
The Emiratis are very open to foreigners, respect them and apreciate if foreigners show repect to the Muslim culture. Emiratis, no matter how modern and sophisitaced things are, holding on to their roots and culture. Traditionall clothes are commen.
Labour is cheap, gas, water and electricity are cheap. Of course gas also.
The UAE are a shopper's paradise. There is hardly nothing what wont get. And all tax free (beside a few exemptions).
Well, where is sunshine there is shade:
Said that the weather in the summer time is awfull. It is getting very very hot and humid. But - we all have air conditioners everywhere. You just try to avoid staying outside as much as possible.
Rents are skyrocking, traffic is bad and there so far is not a working traffic transportation system yet. Bu the metro is on it's way.
There are to many people of certain Nationalities provided with drivers license who think that driving is just to know where the gas pedal and the horn are Otherwise…………
Well, that are little things we are just putting up with.
There are not many things I would like to change. Rents? Well to whom it concerns, I don't pay any. Can't change the weather. Public transportation will be improved, but I drive my car anyway. There is ony one thing I really would like to see changed: the way some people drive reckless, making no way for ambulances and police, blocking intersections and that the men of certain Nationalities would stop spitting on the street. That's it.
Welcome to the UAE!
edit: read the following in the todays paper. Belongs to my comments regarding the UAE leaders:
