Got a really long flight ahead of me and would like to take some homemade trail mix or something
Answer:
As another poster mentioned, the only thing you’ve to worry about when bringing food from home is if it is of a liquid, or gel consitancy. This would be things like, beverages, jello, pudding, applesauce, yogurt, soup, etc. These items can only be brought through the security checkpoint if they’re in containers of 3.4oz/100ml or less and they must be in your 1qt zip top bag. For more info visit http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtrav… Scroll all the way to the bottom. If you do wish to take yogurt, I advocate GoGurt or Trix yogurt wich comes in plastic tubes similar to Otter Pops. These are compact and fit easily into your zip top bag. They don't require a spoon to eat, just tear off the top and sqeeze.
That being said, there are still lots of things you can bring on the plane. Some general guide lines are nothing that needs to be refriderated or heated, and nothing that has a strong odor or that will cause you to have gas and things that are packed in a way that they’ll turn to crumbs in your luggage.
Some recommendations of things that pack well are anything that comes in an individual serving size such as 100 calorie packs, Pringles (avoid chips in regualar bags as they tend to get crushed in your luggage), individual packages of cereal (to eat dry or ask your flight attendant for some milk, just remember to bring a plastic spoon), peanutbutter sandwich crackers, nuts, trail mix, fruit such as apples, oranges (pre peeled if possible), grapes, veggies such as carrots, celery sitcks, sweet potato sticks, fresh green beans, cookies in small packages, candy, granola bars, friut roll ups, sandwitches packed in disposable containers (so they don't get squished, avoid using mayo which can go bad w/out refridgeration, mustard is ok). Really, the list can go on and on.
If you’re flying to Hawaii or internationally you’ll need to throw out any fruits or veggies once you deplane so you don't introduce any pests into the eco system. In Hawaii you will see Amensty Bins to dispose of items before you head to baggage claim.
Answer:
As most people have said, YES you can take snacks/food on the plane. With the new cut backs in service it is becoming common to see lots of folks with food (i.e. sandwiches etc.) purchased after the security checkpoints on board. You can also take an EMPTY water bottle and fill it once you pass the security checkpoints for drinking on the plane. (If you’re not fond of plain water, you can bring one of those tiny packets of flavoring for your water, or pay the exorbitant amount they charge in the shops for a Coke etc.)
Try to use some good judgment though… no Limburger and onion on rye, 16 inch double anchovy pizza, etc. Also try to avoid things that make lots of crumbs so you don't cover your entire row with flying potato chip crumbles!
Have a great flight…
Answer:
Yes, you can. Mostly they must adhere to the under 3 oz. rule if they are liquid, cheese or gel-type. Note what’s granted. Its usually fine, the only time it might be a problem is an international flight.
Some countries are very concerned w/fruits and vegetables entering/leaving the country. In those cases stick to snack crackers, chocolate, and generally non-perishable food items.
And don't pack regular silverware - a family member once made the mistake of trying to bring a metal butter knife to spread cream cheese on the bagels we brought. It was longer than the allowed length and they’d to be reported to the government even though the knife had no edge
Answer:
Yes, you can actually! I traveled when I was around 6 months pregnant, and was granted a few snacks for the flight.
Most airlines have detailed lists of things you can or cannot bring on board…here is an example for American Airlines:

It might vary, so I would check out your particular airline's regulations.
Good luck!
Answer:
As a matter of fact you can…as long as you can't injure anyone or threaten the security of the plane. It is always good to contact an airport agent or your travel agent for updates on airport security. My advice is to be totally safe and take no chances. Visit this site for a more detailed chart of do's and dont's.
Answer:
My mother is a flight attendant for Delta, US Ariways, Continental, ect. and I believe you can take FOOD with you in your carry-on luggage but as for liquids, water ect. I don't think you can. I personally ahve taken food on an airplane so I think that you should be okay in taking it with you
Answer:
Heck I see people getting on the plane with pizza and coffee from Starbucks and all kinds of stuff from the airport vendors! You have to get something from them or eat before you get on the plane or you’ll starve nowadays.
Answer:
go to www.tsa.gov , they are the ones that regulate what you can take through security not the airline.
