in a hand carry, no… the detector will and can detect what you’ve in a hand carry. if you packed it in a luggage where the luggage goes straight to all luggage compartment, maybe. also ideal to ask your travel agent. you don't want an costly hair straightener gone forever. ![]()

I believe they won't be, because you could burn someone with them or whatever. If you’re going to need it before you get your luggage for some reason, when you check your luggage in ask them there if you can bring a straightener on the plane. If yes, keep in in carry on, if no, you can easily put it in your suitcase.
