I normally fly home to Boston from school from BWI. I found better prices by flying from Reagan to Boston but I haven't booked my flight yet because I’ve never been to Reagan before. I would be driving to the airport from Charlottesville, VA. Would Reagan Airport be difficult to drive to since it's in the city? Would BWI be a superior choice since I am more familiar with it although the prices are about $50-100 higher?
Answer:
Reagan National Airport (DCA) is easy to get to from C'ville. The simplest way would be to take Rt. 29 East to I-66 North to the George Washington Parkway. Depending on the time of day however, the traffic can be heavy. If your flight is in the morning you'll be fighting rush hour traffic the entire way. However, if you're departing any time after noon you shouldn't have too much trouble. BWI can be just as difficult to get to also depending on the traffic situation. Given that the cost of the flight is more, the additional mileage, and the absurd price of gas these days I'd give DCA a try. Actually, have you considered flying out of Dulles (IAD)? It's definitely the closest major airport to you. Jetblue, United, and USAir all fly IAD-BOS. Even though it might be slightly more costly you'll probably offset the additional cost with savings on gas and time.
Answer:
Reagan Airport is a fairly good airport. I do like BWI better. Regan is out of the way of Charlottesville, So I'd just pay the 50$ more to fly into bwi, because that's about ho much you would have to pay in gas fee's driving from Regan to Charlottesville.
Why not flying into Charlottesville?
Answer:
If you’re in Charlottesville, VA, and you found cheaper rates on flights out of Reagan Nat'l, I would go with that. There is probably a map of Reagan on the web right here…
