Lets state… for 100 miles, how much in fuel would you spend?

Or, what's the average mile per gallon on gas in an airplane?

Thx

Answer:
First off, the first answer about the CRJ has the units wrong, I think he or she’s speaking about pounds of fuel, not gallons. A gallon of jet fuel weighs 6.7 pounds, so divide $18,000 by 6.7 to get the correct number, which is $2686. That's still high because you almost never burn the reserve fuel, so you'd need to remove 150 gallons or $750 for the amount needed to go 100 miles.

As far as your question, it depends on the type of aircraft. The bigger the airplane the more fuel it will burn per a mile, but it will generally be more efficient considering you can take more passengers. While a Bombardier CRJ burns less fuel then a Boeing 747, the Boeing 747 is much more efficient considering you can carry many more passengers.

If you’re speaking about light airplanes like a Cessna 172 they’re less high-priced to operate compared to jet aircraft. A Cessna 172 will burn about 6 gallons per hour, and travel at a speed of 120MPH. So roughly 20MPG. As far as the cost, fuel used in aviation piston engines is higher octane and produced in much lower volume then car gasoline, so the price per gallon is higher. If you had to buy fuel at the airport in Torrance, CA today you would pay $5.38/gallon. So the fuel cost of flying 100 miles in a Cessna 172 would be roughly $27.

Answer:
100 miles? About 15k

It depends on a lot of factors Plane type winds etc.

So its a CRJ-700. 100 miles.

Thats about 2,000 gallons With about 500 gallons for taxi and about 1000 gallons as reserve. So around 18k or so.

jet A fuel is around 5.00$ a gallon so 5×3600 is around 18k

And you thought 60$ for you tiny BMW was bad huh?

To the Guy below me….150 Gallons isnt reserve fuel for a CRJ-700. Where did you get 18,000 from? idiot

Answer:
over £600,000 to fill a Boeing 747.
