To JonEff…Instead of doing your usual knitpicking at someone elses answer, why don't you READ the question, and answer it which as usual you have not done….in answer to this question, the answer is NO it is not cheaper to buy the tickets in America. The Americans do not have cheaper fares when flights orignate from the UK and therefore you will pay the stirling fare but the equivalent in dollars…had the flight been originating in America, then it might be that it could well be cheaper to purchase it in the US as they’ll have access to certain fares that we’ll not have in the UK….just to summarise for JonEffs benefit,if a flight originates from the UK,then it isn’t cheaper to purchase the ticket in another country….also, regarding New York,it does not matter whether it is JFK or Newark airport you fly to as you will find the fares are common rated(meaning fares to JFK and Newark are the same) which is something else JonEff does not seem to know…..I get the impression he knows very little about air fares.

Answer:
To “Pilot” It does depend on what airport you fly to. You clearly know nothing about the airline industry if you think that.

Its always allot cheaper to fly to a more massive airport, where there are more flights, more seats, and there for seats are cheaper to fill them, so check flight prices to London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Glasgow International, Manchester and maybe Birmingham as they are the main airports in the UK.

There are flights from New York to small regional airports such as Belfast, Bristol and a few other small cities, but they will cost allot as flights are not frequent.

Answer:
It doesn't depend what airport you fly to, it depends what airline you fly with. If you want to fly from the UK to New York, I advocate either US Airways, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, or British Airways.
