If travelling to China, your passport must be valid for at least six months after the duration of your intended stay and you must also be able to provide evidence of a return or onward ticket. A visa is required for all travellers to China whether for tourism, business, employment or study purposes. You should ensure that you obtain the appropriate visa for the purpose of your visit. It is very hard to obtain a visa at Chinese border entry points.

If- for example you were going to Hong Kong you only need your passport but if you do a day trip in China, you need a day Visa, these are usually included in the cost of the day trip. You'll need to take your passport when booking the day trip. If you’re just going to China, you need the Visa before you go.

You have to apply for the visa- send your passport away and they’ll send it back to you with your Visa. I assure you they send it back I had to do it earlier this year- do it soon so you have one less expense and worry.

Answer:
Contact www.smarttraveller.gov.au or perhaps the Australian embassy or travel agency. They will have good reliable advice. Are you planning a trip or a permanent stay. Either way, contact a bureau of immigration and travel. I’m sure they’ve a website and a hotline. Good luck.
