“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
“Poor in spirit” means to be humble. Humility is the realization that all your gifts and blessings come from the grace of God. To have poverty of spirit means to be absolutely empty and open to the Word of God. When we’re an empty cup and devoid of pride, we’re humble. Humility brings an openness and an inner peace, allowing one to do the will of God.
It is pride, the opposite of humility, that brings misery. For pride brings anger and the seeking of revenge, especially when one is offended. If every man were humble and poor in spirit, there would be no war!
Answer:
It depends on the situation. I wish you had gave me a little bit more info but I guess your saying for all situations. Well for one, I am the type of person who has a lot of pride and it takes a lot for me to ask for help. In this case, I would state if you are the main focus, I would salvage my pride, unless it is dealing with another person. For example, if you are dealing with relationship with another person and you don't want to get back with them because they embarrassed you (cheated on you, etc) then you should think about more than yourself.
See, people love to see you down, so if it is only dealing with you, then I would go for pride. Never let them see you sweat! ![]()
Answer:
the latter. because there’s no value in pride itself imho. i find that keeping 'pride' when you’ve made a mistake is a bad idea. admit the mistake and offer to correct it. trying to make it seem like you didn't make a mistake leads to deceipt and other bad stuff.
also 'being humiliated' makes it sound like someone else is doing something to you, which really isn't the case. you could feel embarrassed i guess but that’s your own internal feeling. if someone else is taunting or teasing or correcting you, it will be up to you whether you react by feeling humiliation. so i feel there's a logical error in your question in a sense.
Answer:
Doesn't cover every situation…you would have to actually GIVE us the specific situation. If this were to save my job, I'd suck it up and be meek. If this were to get a parking space, I'd salvage my pride.
