Me and my boyfriend are wanting to move to australia. i need to find a good place to have opportunities in advertising and him retail. Were both gay and would like to find a city that’s really friendly and has great clubs and entertainment. Another key factor is the weather. We want a place with great sunny weather where I heard melbourne doesn't have the greatest weather. And another thing is somewhere where rent wouldnt be pricey. Thanks so much.
Answer:
Your biggest hurdle will be getting visas to come here as one of you’ll need to have qualifications and experience in an occupation in which we need workers. If your job isn't on one of our lists of required occupations, you’ll not be able to get a visa.
Currently, the only applications being processed are those with employer or say government sponsorship in any of the listed occupations and those for occupations on the Critical Skills List (CSL). Other listed occupations are still eligible but without sponsorship, visa processing will take a very long time - in some cases, years.

If you have some contacts in advertising and can arrange employer sponsorship, that's really the only way you'll get a visa, at least until the economy picks up and the non CSL occupations are processed again. Your boyfriend can come on your visa as your interdependent partner so his occupation isn't important for immigration purposes.
With regard to where you move to, you're not going to be able to accomplish your ideal without some compromise. Sydney would be perfect on each front apart from the fact that it's our most high-priced city. Melbourne is also great and is less costly, but the weather is the biggest drawback (though it's not quite as bad as people would have you believe). The main problem with Melbourne's weather is that it's so changeable. I grew up there and we used to take warm clothes to the beach on beautiful, hot sunny days and often needed them after a few hours. Its winters are very dreary and drizzly too.
On balance, I think you should plan on Sydney and perhaps live a bit further from the city or in a smaller place. Sydney's economy is also generally stronger and you might find that higher salaries will offset the higher rent.

Melbourne would be the place to go. Melbourne DOESNT have the greatest weather? That's a joke. It is classed as the 'Gay Central' (no offence to Melbournians or Gays but thats just what its known as). Sydney has NO WHERE near as good a night life as Melbourne (Im not gay nor am i a male but trust me, i would pick Melbourne over Sydney at the drop of a hat!) But come here the right way like the people above have informed you
