i am studying brazilian portuguese and i need to know will people in portugal understand me and vice versa with little to no problem..

I'm Brazilian (from Sao Paulo City) and my fiance is Portuguese (from Lisbon). We’ve no problems of communicating with each other at all. So don't worry about that, because it's still the same language. Of course there's some different idiomatic expressions between the Brazilian Portuguese and the Portuguese from Portugal, as well as the American English compared to the British English.

Yes. Brazilians think the Portuguese are stupid. They make jokes about them kind of like Polish jokes are made in the USA and Irish jokes in the UK. Honestly if you listen to a Portuguese person talk it does sound a little foolish, (I am Brazilian).
