My husband and I are taking a trip up and they are now predicting 15-20cm of snow the day we arrive in Vancouver. We are renting a normal car and I've heard that the tires on rentals aren't very good and I'm concerned about driving up. Can someone tell me if we start heading up to Whistler, where we can buy chains along the way and if you think we will need them with this forcast? Thanks so much!
Answer:
I don't know what weather forcast you were listening to, but Vancouver will not be seeing any more snow for the rest of the season. Whistler might still get some but even they are supposed to get up to 6 degrees C today with rain, not snow. Tomorrow they are saying they may get 1-3 cm of snow, which is nothing.

You will not need chains. The highway will be perfect this time of year, even if the mountains get a little snow, the road itself will be fine. Enjoy your trip!
Answer:
Canadian tire or any other tire store. Make sure that you know the exact make and model of your vehicle.
Answer:
You could find yourself up in the Garibaldi Highlands and meet with a sign saying CHAINS REQUIRED so it is better safe than sorry. Go to Canadian Tire before you head up the Sea to Sky. Noone can predict the weather that well. I've had to stop a few times because I didn't have chains.
