Being a Canadian citizen born and raised in Canada my choice is, of course, Canada. America? Citizens of the United States of America are American. Citizens of Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia and all the way to Chile are also American. Unfortunately, many people assume the term ‘American’ to be exclusive to that of the 50 United Says. North America and South America … simple, really. If someone were to ask me, “Are you American?” I’d have to respond with, “Yes – Canadian”. That's the way I look at it, eh!

Canada has a better culture, more civil, more relaxed, more open. They’ve universal health care and Canadians tend to be much healthier than Americans. They’ve a superior educational system. Less crime. I think they’ve surpassed the American standard of living. Something like 90% of Canadians live with 45 mi. of the border so they don't miss out on US network Television.
The US has better climate, in some places. And if you happen to be a top exec. of a Fortune 500 company you can make a LOT more money. I think that's about it.

It depends on what you like really!
I've lived in NY and LA and I think Montreal is a much nicer city, albeit a little small and tooooooooo cold in the winter. Toronto is very beautiful but also small. Niagara Falls has a better view from the Canadian side. The biggest problem with Canada is their VERY puritan liquor laws/early hour prohibition. (2am last call/ liquor purchases only from government stores at certain hours - this caused problems when we wanted to get wine during Thanksgiving and those stores were closed). Also prohibiting free drinks while gambling is really lame.
All in all, the people are much cooler and generally more relaxed climate. Also they use the metric system (which they had the intelligence to convert to some 25 years ago, unlike the US) which in my book automatically makes it a superior place!

I think the biggest plus that Canada has going for it is the fact that it is bigger in area than the US, yet it's population is roughly the same as California.
I live in the US but I plan on spending a lot of time in Canada.

Canada has a national health care plan, but to raise the money to fund it their taxes are very high. Canada also has some very nice scenery, but they don’t have a lot of massive cities. US is the best country in the world, but we have a percentage that want to make this country into a socialist country. The thing that makes America great is the capitalism, please respect the constitution!
