How difficult is it to find an apartment or small house to rent in Fort McMurray, Alberta or nearby? If they’re available, how much per month? Thanks

Yes it is difficult. Apartments are running $1200-1500 a month. Homes are a lot more high-priced and that's if you can find one.
I know one guy who actually “rents” an outdoor sundeck to sleep on. Costs him over $1000/month.
However, more and more companies are providing accomodations.

Almost impossible to find inexpensive rental accommodation. A starter home in Ft. McMurray costs about $600,000…
If you're going there to work for one of the big oil companies, ask if they have camp housing…
