What did you think? How were the people there? Tell me a little about your trip. 10 pts to most thorough and honest answer!
Answer:
Yes, I’ve been to most of the says believe it or not.
The says are cool. They definately have better shopping than Canada does, more stores, restaurants… etc
What I thought was a tiny breathtaking is how tiny many Americans (not all!!!) know about their neighbour to the North! When you state you’re from Calgary, they have NO idea what you are talking about, while everyone in Canada knows where Calgary is. I was even asked by one American if we live in igloos… I was astonished (this was only one time and most Americans know superior than this mind you!) Also, they have the ability to tell we’ve an accent very swiftly. Many are also interested in people from other lands, so thats good!
Oh by the way- make sure you dont use any Canadian coins down there (not like loonies and toonies- but pennies, quarters and nickles and dimes) For whatever reason, they wont take them even though we dont even care if we get theres in a handful of change! Weird I know.
Overall Americans are good people who were just never taught much about Canada like Canadians are taught about the American system.

I visit the Says at least once a year, and can honestly state I love it. Sure there are large differences between the States and Canada but for the most part I love the American culture. I'm always grateful to live in Canada, but I think I could adjust to living in the US just as well. I find the people, especially in the West are very similar to Canadians…laid back, down to earth…educated(hate to say it). Of course when you travel to some of the small cities you really feel like your on a different planet, in some parts, they are sooooo far behind which is hard to believe. I went to a gas station that had a big sign saying “now hiring, starting @ $4.75 per hour…yikes! Can't envision!
All in all I love being a Canadian in the States, I’ve never had any problems, and find they’re always interested to know more about Canada. I learn something new on all my trips and instruct them about Canada as well…always good times!

I lived there for 5 years while I was in university. It was an incredible experience. For the very, very most part, I loved it. The country is so diverse, the people are so diverse and interesting. The only thing was that they teased me mercilessly about being Canadian. However, I did not take it lying down and teased back.
I missed Canadian candy (so my mom imported it for me) and I thought that American chocolate bars were kind of waxy and tasteless. No Smarties to be had! On the upside, there was an abundance of Cherry Cokes, and MMM! We don't have those here.
Fortunately, for the most part, the food was the same as here, so it was no huge adjustment.
I also really missed Air Farce and other CBC humour. (This is, of course, the only part of the CBC worth watching!) Canadians have a much drier, much more political humour, while Americans' humour can sometimes be more “potty humour”.
However, winters were much more mild where I was, and I really liked that. I’m not a winter-lovin' gal. Summers were hard to get used to–they were really hot! Beaches in California are infinately better than Canadian beaches, though.
The people were, for the most part, really friendly and nice. Unless they were working in INS offices. In that case, they were actually hired on their capability to be jerks and buttheads. I think that Americans are pretty much like people anywhere. They’re mostly concerned about the stuff that goes on in their own homes, communities and Says. I think that's pretty common among Canadians too. I'm more worried about what's going on in my province than what's happening in Nunavit, for example.
Overall, a very good experience. But I'm still a Canadian…be it ever so frozen, there's no place like home! ![]()
Answer:
Im from the US. People are different everywhere. Most of the people here are nice and average citizens just like up in Canada. But then again, there the Racist KKK members, the biker gangs, and the gangs such as Bloods/latin kings/crips. Overall its a great country filled with Good food, good tourist attractions, great views, fun times, and mostly kind people. But honestly, it depends on what part you go to. I live in Massachusetts, and if you go to the city, its a total different place from the country. Hope I helped.
Answer:
I’ve been to western NY and Pittsburg.
The highways are great and people follow the rules of the road. Bigger police presence than in Canada. The people are always friendly, especially if they know you are Canadian…people are also fatter on average. Very patriotic, which I respect.
I drove to Pittsburg and when I got there I became lost looking for where the Penguins play. I drove through some places that I’ve never seen in Toronto. All the people were black and the area was very run down. Slums I guess. We’ve bad places in Toronto, but not what I saw in Pittsburg. And our poverty seems to be less discriminating, but still the blacks and natives have it the worse, but not like what I saw in Pittsburg. It was like segregation.
Answer:
yes, i hate it there, I always return to Canada to stay the night if I can…and then drive back over the next day..
