I really want to go to a bilingual Dutch-English school, is that still possible in the 12th grade (5e klas)? I do speak English, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Answer:
I wonder what education you mean at that age to be honest?

Bilingual schools are predominately aimed at moving kids into mainstream Dutch schooling it as I comprehend it, and I doubt therefore that if you have attended mainstream school for sometime already, that they’ll agree to take you on unless there are exceptional reasons to do so.

There are International schools which accept older students up to 18 to their equivilant of high school, but these are (a) not necessarily following a Dutch standard education, and nor will your diplomas be the same (b) usually these are short-term schooling for kids of expats within the Netherlands and (c) exceptionally high-priced e.g. €16,000 per year which is paid by the student/family in advance plus a registration fee as well of about €600, and a refundable deposit of €3000 - so not cheap at all.

Otherwise if you can wait for a couple of years, there are many HBO & University courses which are partially or totally in English now offered as part of the normal education stream (so no additional costs other than costs for travel if part of an exchange program option).

I would turn the question in it's head, and look at why you want to attend a school in English as well given that your Dutch is native and of a high standard. Not knowing the reasons it's hard to state of course, but maybe you can look at joining social groups outside of school with English natives (Brits, Americans, Aussies etc). This is a perfect way to get a dose of “real” English and also a great social outlet as well

Here’s a link to a good site with all the clubs on offer and you can see what’s available in your area, and also in the subject area you find appealing as well http://www.expatica.com/nl/lifestyle_lei…
