My friend needs a place to stay in Paris for this weekend, she's a tiny short on cash. Are there any good souls out there willing to put her up?

She's an breathtaking person and artist, you never know you may stumble upon a great new friend.

I know it is a little weird coming on YA and asking but I figured it didn't hurt.

I echo Rose's recommendation on Sofa Surfing. However, if this is the first time she uses it and doesn't have any contacts to vouch for her, it may not be very simple for her to find someone who's willing to take in an unvouched couchsurfer, but certainly there's no harm to try.

There are also a couple of dinner clubs/supper nights that may help her in the terms of food/dinner. The hosts don't have definite charges but recommend leaving a donation in an envelope. I'm not suggesting taking advantage of the hospitality by going to eat for free and then leave, but she could certainly contact the hosts of the supper nights and check if she can go along while not having a lot of money to meet the suggested donation amount. Michael runs his on Saturdays (http://www.meetup.com/TalkTime/ ) and Jim runs his on Sundays (http://www.jim-haynes.com/contact/index…. ).

Perhaps she can swap a couple of her art pieces for the meals?

Good luck and stay safe!

Answer:
Your friend can get a bed at the Auberge Internationale des Jeunes for 17 € (http://www.aijparis.com/framea.htm) or at the CISP for 19.90 € (http://www.cisp.fr/cisp/index.asp?ln=us )

A possibility for a free place to crash is to head over to Shakespeare & Company at 37 Rue Bûcherie in the 5th across the river from Notre Dame. The owners are known for allowing young artists and writers to sleep at their store.

Crashing with a stranger who she has connected with second hand (i.e. thru you asking about it on Y!Answers) is just way too hazardous anywhere in the world.

NB: Jim Haynes is a great guy (and defintiely a loonie…but in a good way) . I’ve some qualms about advising anyone to take advanatage (even innocently) of his good nature when, as I comprehend it, he is having some very severe financial difficulties of his own.

Answer:
your friend should check out www.couchsurfing.com.

my cousin let a guy stay on her couch for a couple of days, and it worked out ok. he cooked her a tasty vegetarian dinner as a way of saying thanks.

Answer:
WOW, NOT SAFE!!! Do you want your friend to go stay with some person from Y!A that could possibly be a looney?
