Germany not important?!?

Author: admin

Okay well I'm full-blooded German and I'm very proud of it (I'm from Hamburg) And my boyfriend.. Well hes full Norwegian and he thinks Norway is so much better.. He said “All Germans are known for is beer and prostitutes.” That really makes me upset because that is not true at all! And he always makes fun of me and calls me a Nazi and I hate it so much! Germany is important for a lot of things.. give me a few good ones I have the ability to tell him that (And some bad things about Norway! Lol jk) But please help me!

Answer:
If he is seriously calling you a Nazi, I would end the relationship at once - and I always thought that Norwegians are among the highest educated people in the world and not really prejudiced….

But if you still want him around, you can tell him about so many things, companies, innovations and people that Germany can be proud of. Most men like driving, so you can begin with Porsche, BMW and Mercedes as well as the Autobahn without speedlimit (well, at least parts of it). Is he into sports? Then throw in names like Boris Becker, Steffi Graf, Michael Schumcher, Michael Ballack or Dirk Novitzki.

He’ll for sure know Martin Luther, Johannes Gutenberg, Albert Schweitzer, Wilhelm Roentgen, Karl Marx and Albert Einstein and even if he does not like classical music, he’ll have heard the names Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner and Ludwig van Beethoven. Then there is Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Bert Brecht, Hermann Hesse and Guenther Grass in literature, politicians Willi Brandt (lived in Norway for a while, his wife his Norwegian), Konrad Adenauer and Hans-Dietrich Genscher, scientists like Robert Koch and Konrad Zuse, companies like Siemens, Bayer, BASF and Thyssen, supermodels Claudia Schiffer and Heidi Klum and so much more.

Norway has extremly successful athlets (biathlon, ski-ing, track & field), Grieg, Munch, Amundsen, Heyerdal, Hamsun, Ibsen, Lie and the royal family, I guess there aren`t many more that are famous in other countries as well.

Your boyfriend is being a bigot. While I am not full-blooded German, my maternal great-great grandparents were full-blooded German. If he’d called me a Nazi, I would have yelled at him, very loud. Germany has been through a lot, in 100yrs.; World War I, sparked by the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914; Adolph Hitler coming to power as Chancellor of Germany in 1933; Hitler's tyrannical rule by creating the death camps inside Germany; Hitler starting World War II in 1939 by invading Poland; At the end of World War II(1945) Germany being split in two, by the U.S. and, U.S.S.R.; The U.S.S.R. putting up the Berlin Wall in 1961; Germans being killed for trying to cross it(I was born in Berlin so, I know what that was like), just to see relatives on the other side; The reunification of Germany in 1989.

Germany has been through so much more, than Norway.

Answer:
First of all it's really nasty and not respectful to your origin country. These are only prejudices and for an adult it's stupid to only depend on them. Has he ever been in Germany before? I don't think so…

And about the 'Nazi': It's absolutely a No-go to call you that and you should forbid him to insult you - if he can't accept where your roots are, there is no good base for your relationship, I'm sorry.

What's good about Germany?

Germany has many things to be proud of, such as

* beautiful and well-known cities such as Berlin. Munich, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Nürnberg…

* great food such as tasty desserts like Pflaumenknödel or Milchreis…

by the way, when I'm speaking about food: the famous Döner is something invented in Germany ^__~ Also there's nothing better than Knödel with Sauerbraten ^^

* wonderful landscapes. e.g. the Middle Rhine ( I looove it there, it's probably one of the most beautiful places in Germany ^^ )

* attractions like Schloss Neuschwanenstein, Insel Mainau…

* really nice people

Hey Emily,

don`t bother. The Norwegians stink like their lutefisk. How long do you shower him before you hang out with him?

Why are Norwegeans not member of EU? their emissions are to high.

Why there were no Nazies in Norway — they couldn`t spell Quisling.

Why there are so much Norwegeans in hamburgian brothels? The girls there don`t stink like lutefisk?

Some good things about Germany? — there are no good things in Germany — too much Norwegeans here drinking beer and hanging out in brothels.

:-) :-) :-)

Grüße aus Bergedorf

Heinz

Answer:
I disagree with Shlomo: Berlin is the most beautiful city in the world! Except you like castles, then I'd choose Neuschwanstein.

If your friend calls you a Nazi, well, why not be one? Hunt him up and down Bavarian mountains with a whip until he begs for mercy…

But no, this is a family forum, so I won't go into details.
