I just read that taxi fares are going up again from the first of November. Fair enough I thought, everything else is going up but I was just wondering how the Taxi Regulator can justify charging one price at 7.30pm and another price (higher) at 8.30pm? If you travel from point a to point b at 7.30pm you will be charged the standard fare but if you then travel back the same route from point b to point a an hour later you’ll be charged at the premium rate. What the f**k has changed in that past hour to justify a hike in price?

Answer:
i know its terrible less people will be useing taxis now and walking instead

Answer:
It sounds a bit Irish. Whenever we're in Dublin we always use those rickshaw fellas. We got one in Harcourt Street one night and we asked him to take us to Leixlip. It didn't cost us anything cos he collapsed just outside the town so we were able to walk the rest of the way…….

Edit:

Digipics: Oh we left him a tip alright, we told him to never drive anyone home that far again, his lungs wouldn't thank him for it……

Answer:
its harder to get taxis after 8.30

Answer:
The fare change in different times is there to encourage more drivers to work nights and unsociable hours such as sundays and weekends,

Its funny how most of the people who complain , when asked cannot tell the difference between a taxi and a hackney. I did a bit of taxi(not hackney) work during summers off from college, it is long days listening to drunken idiots while you’re stuck in traffic, you hear “been busy” all day long, seriously they do say that it isn’t just a peter kay joke. There are few Ranks so you have to drive around all the time using up fuel that’s getting more and more expensive.

So to put it another way why, if a taxi driver was to endure all this in the course of the daylight hours would he want to do it at night, he could stay in bed and not be carrying drunken eegits around.

The difference betweeen a hackney and a taxi is a taxi has a set fare but a hackney can legally charge you a thousand euros to go one mile, once you sit in the hackney cab you’ve agreed to pay the fare, taxis have lights hackneys dont.

On behalf of all taxi drivers I would like to answer the following question, “why do taxis not stop when they’ve their lights on.

Answer is , the meter system is linked to the light, when the lght is turned off the meter starts running, that means the taxi driver is going to a fare and is honest enough to not run the meter before collecting the person.
