I've wanted to hike to the top of Slievenamon ever since my first visits to the area as a kid, but have never got round to doing so.
I'll be back in the area soon and I'm determined to finally get my lazy backside up there.
So, what's the ideal - and easiest - way to approach this?
Where do I establish base-camp (park the car)?
How long will the assault on the summit take?
Would 20 Carroll's, a noggin of whiskey and a packet of Tayto's be enough to sustain me during the trek?
Any information on this would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Answer:
Drive around to the southern slope, to the village of Ballypatrick, and park your car there, and simply follow the trail up the mountain. Swap the whiskey for water, don“t bother with the cigarettes, and you should be grand.
Answer:
We wouldn't advise it. The North face of Slievenamon is littered with the skeletal remains of young bucks just like yourself who thought they could tame this wildest of beasts with 20 Major, some crisps and a naggin of whiskey.
Try Mount Everest instead. It's much easier. You'd only need a tube of Pringles and a bottle of TK Red Lemonade for that……
