Are American Veterinarians able to work in other countries such as Ireland and Scotland? If I pursued Vet school, I'd like to eventually move out of the US and these two places interest me.

What sort of stipulations would an American D.V.M. need to have in order to work in other countries? I have an A.S. degree now, would it be wise to receive my B.S. here and then apply for a Vet school in Ireland or would I be less likely to be accepted considering I'm American?

I live in California and if I stayed here, UC Davis would be the school of choice. Are there any UC Davis students/graduates who can talk from their own experience going there?

Thanks so much in advance for your responses.

Answer:
You might be, but you need to be aware that you are up against EU nationals also, whose paperwork is considerably cheaper to process. However, if you can get an Irish or British employer to take you on, all you need is a letter offering a job, and then you can apply for your residency/work permit.

We never refer to third level education as school over here. It's either college or university. Just for future reference ….:-)

You live in California? Ee gads. Don't you realise the weather in these islands is wet, miserable, cold ….. why would you want to move?

I recommend coming to Ireland and Scotland first and seeing how you care about it here. Try and get an exchange thing instead, through the college.

Answer:
Your should direct your question to The veterinary Record newspaper. UK. I,m sure you can find them on line.
