The drinking age is 18, correct?
I also heard that if you are with someone who is 18+, in a place that serves alcohol and you’re 16 or older, they can order the alcohol for you?

Is this true, or all in correct?
Thanks a lot, appreciate it :)

Answer:
Well the age is 18. We’re allowed to drink under 18 at home with parents. But like sooo many teens are underage drinkers. I'm 16 and whenever i go out with my friends and people my age 99% of them drink like. And we're not out of control teens either. The more slutty/scangery girs in my year, a lot of them have been drinking since they were 14. But our school in in the top 10 in ireland just incase people were thinking it was a hole!

Thats just what happens.

Answer:
Here’s the proper term:

Under the intoxicating Liquor Act 2003, it is unlawful for a person under the age of 18 to drink alcohol. It is also illegal for an adult to purchase drink for a minor.

However the act states: “It shall not be unlawful for a person (other than the holder of a licence of licensed premises) to purchase or deliver intoxicating liquor for consumption by a person under the age of 18 years in a private residence with the explicit consent of that person's parent or guardian.”

So in pubs, off licence, etc no, but at home with parent with consent yes.

Licence holders that grant people between 18-21 years on their premises without appropriate identification can face a fine of €1,500 for a first offence and €2,000 for any subsequent offences. (Appropriate identification includes a National Age Card, a passport, a driving licence, or an identity card issued by a EU member state).

Also note some clubs, pubs over 21, 23.

good Luck

Answer:
It is not true that someone can buy alcohol for you at 16.
It is NOT an offence to drink alcohol under the age of 18, but it is against the law for someone to sell alcohol to someone under 18. This misunderstanding came about when a father gave his daughter a glass of wine in a restaurant, with a meal, and the proprietor attempted to remove the wine from the minor. The father sued the restaurant and won his case.
It doesn't mean that 4 guys can go into a bar, 3 of them are 16 and one is 18, and the 18 year old can buy the booze for the minors to drink. If that happens the 16 year old drinkers are not breaking the law but the publican is.

Answer:
yesh they can order alcohol for you, but its against the law for you to drink it in a public place, under 18s are allowed to drink at home under parents supervision but not in public places as its against the law,
