on moving out, how long did it usually take for your deposit to be returned. Threshold website advises it should be returned “within a reasonable amount of time”..but what is considered reasonable - days, weeks?
Ive been stiffed so many times with deposits, im determined not to let it happen this time. ![]()
Answer:
I concur with Cormac, ask the landlord to meet you the day your moving out, as you would like to get your deposit then. That's basically telling him you want it then. And if he/she acts the maggot, tell him you'll meet him/her on the monday with the key when they’ve the deposit on them. By law, you’re entitled to your deposit back, unless there is outstanding bills or things broken. Landlord and Tenant Act 1995.
Answer:
it should be when you hand the keys back to the landlord he should have the money ready for you no excuses its called a deposit for a reason.if you’ve given the landlord the concurred amount of time for moving out well then there should be no problem
Answer:
it should always be the day you hand the keys back. as really thats the last time you’ll have dealings with the land lord. once the place is inspected by them you should get it back.
Answer:
if it's in good condition i'd def get it the day i moved out. no argument. there's maybe somethin in the contract about it.
Answer:
arrange to meet the landlord there on the day of moving out, face to face (harder to stiff you like that ), and inspect the flat together
Answer:
Within the month.
