Great place to visit and fairly cheap. Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan, Sienna, all these places are great. If you are going go in the shoulder months these would be early April to early May and Mid September to early October. It gets mental in the peak time (European Summer) - Stay away from Venice in the height of summer - the canals stink

I don't really know. I spent most of my time in tourist spots, so I didn't get to meet many Italians. It would have been better if I had been to more rural areas.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN PERSON ,
but my opinion of italy is , it prodoces some of the best looking men and women ,
they have style ,
they produce good sports personalitys
i totally adore, cosa nostra and ferrari's
BUT think their cooking is totally overrated. e.g.
lasagne , spag bol , raviollo , pasta & meatballs……….
WHATEVER YOU ORDER , ITS ALL THE SAME MEAL JUST SERVED IN A DIFFERENT WAY, pasta , mince, and tomato……………………………….
to me …. that is italy
somebody once told me ….. italians are just greeks what pretend to be spanish , and the spanish are greeks what pretend to be italian……….. or something like that
