I’ll be arriving from Milan, and would like to hike from Monterosso al Mare in the north to Riomaggiore in two days time. I was wondering where should I do with my luggage, since its quite obvious that I won't be able to drag my bags as I hike. I would also like to one night in one of the five towns. Thanks for your help!

Answer:
According to the trenitalia website, the bagage deposits at Monterosso and La Spezia are still open: http://www.trenitalia.it/it/1f5be2a3ded1… The easiest thing to do is to leave the bags with them, take your hike, and catch the train back to where you left your bags. I've never used the baggage deposit at either of these stations since I always either go to Cinque Terre as a day trip from my home, or have a hotel room in Monterosso. I've always done this hike in one day. If you're staying somewhere overnight, just go to the hotel and check in, drop your bags, and hop on the train back to Monterosso to start the hike. In the morning, check out but have the hotel hold your bags. When you're reached Riomaggiore, you can take the train back to your hotel, pick up your bags and continue on. Or, you could book a room in Riomaggiore and do the above, but take the train between your break point and Riomaggiore in the morning/evening, hike to Riomaggiore and pick up your bags.
