I will be staying in the centre of Venice, and don't have any information as to where to park my automobile safely.
Answer:
Well at the 'entrance' of Venice theere are a couple of huge Garages to park your car - e.g.
after the bridge to the right: Tronchetto Parking
its not cheap (€20 for up to 24 hours) but then the watertaxis are just around the corner - and there is nothing cheap in Venica anyway.
Please have a close look to the link attached, it may save you a lot of money being able to distinguish between the official 'bus-boats' vaporettos (about € 6 as far as I remember to St. Marco - and the gipsy-taxi boats which may charge you a fortune for the same ride.
