I'm a 18 year old female about to graduate high school, and before I go to college I want to study Spanish abroad for a month or two. I’m already almost fluent but I want to be immersed in a Spanish speaking culture so I will become 100% fluent. I've narrowed it down to the DR, Costa Rica, and Cuba (because I want access to a beach wherever I go).
Can anyone give me their thought on where I should go, and why?
Thanks
Answer:
I'm assuming you're not American, because if you were, Cuba would be completely out of the question.
Costa Rica provides the safest learning environment. Costa Rican spanish is also MUCH easier and more neutral. Cuban spanish, if spoken by educated people, is still vey FAST. Forget about Dominican Spanish… normal fluent Spanish speakers from other countries strugge to carry conversations with Dominicans. Nevertheless, Santo Domingo is a beautiful country.
I would still pick costa rica. Have fn!
Answer:
You should go to Costa Rica. You'll have access to the waters and the jungles!
There are some study abroad programs in Costa Rica that are amazing and a must to do list! There’s a program specifically for environmental science, language and culture, and business. where ever it is you’re going to go, have fun!

I am in costa rica for pretty much the same reason- and I’ve to say I love it here. Tico's are very nice people, and are always helpful and are nice to foriegners. I would definately advocate going here. Also seeing Arenal Volcano and Manuel Antonio are great perks too
