I’m going to Cancun in 8 days I want to know if the pesos from 1983 and 1985 are still good to use in Cancun?
Answer:
from that time ´Mexican Currency has gone to a number of changes that its very long to explain, to make the story short think what is happening between Euro and US Dollars now magnify that 1000 times and thats what happen to Mexican Pesos back in the 80´s and 90´s. So pesos from that time is now worthless you can keep them as a souvenir,
for example a coin of 1000 pesos from 1985 now is worth 1 peso and nobody will take a coin from that period since is out of course,
So better keep them as an old souvenir from Mexico.
Answer:
On 1 January 1993, the Bank of Mexico introduced a new currency, the nuevo peso (”new peso”, or MXN), written “N$” followed by the numerical amount. One new peso, or N$1.00, was equal to 1,000 of the obsolete MXP pesos.
