Mikey say's Pie de la Cuesta - about 30 minutes north of Acapulco is the must see beach. COMPLETELY deserted - not a sole on the beach. 15 foot waves on average !! Great lagoon across the street where you can jet skii or water skii. Just a great laid back spot that tourist's don't visit.
Mikeys favorite Beach in Acapulco is Playa Diana. Has some rock to dive from and swim around. One massive one to duck behind for shade when needed. 30 minute round trip to OXXO for cold beer. Ideal beach here.
Fort de San Diego to the north is pretty neat. Self guided tour ( about an hour) , air conditioned ,and pretty informative about the history of Acapulco. I'm not into that type of thing but still think it's worth the hour tour. Mens restroom and the way they flush the toilets is worth it !
Don't bother with Calletta to the north or Puerta Maquis to the south. Very small , Packed beachs. Dirty as well.
Go visit Diamante to the south if you have time. Very rich area of town with some great beachs as well. A lot of new Hotels being built so it still is pretty deserted as well.
Eat up in the neighborhoods for real authentic , cheap Mexican food.
Blue buses run the whole length of the Costera and cost 5 pesos. No real dedicated stops so wave them down.
The marina and the park across the street are a good way to kill some time and just kick back.
Mikeys favorite bar - The Oasis. Right on the beach ! Find the massive mexican flag on the Costera and you’ve found The Oasis bar. Visit right at sunset for ocean side seating !
Here’s my flicker page to see the REAL Acapulco. Click on the “show info” button on the web page…………There also is some Pie de la Cuesta photos as well.

Hi, well first of all, Chichen Itza is in the Mayan Riviera, not in Acapulco… It's like saying Chicago is in California.
And in Acapuclo a very interesting turist attraction is La Qubrada, it's a tradition of families that dive up from the rock down in to the water when it hits the cliffs, pretty dagerous so it's cool.
