Casting nets is illegal in these areas I'm sure. By putting out nets you also you take out all the small half grown fish as well as other sea life. Unfortunately there are soo many people illegally fishing and netting the waters around the Auckland district taking all the undersized fish, there's hardly any decent sized fish left. It is illegal to take undersized fish and other small sealife and there is also a quota on how much you can take. Ring the Ministry of Fisheries to get advice on what you’re legally able to do before going ahead.
