I'm off to Majorca next month as well . I already have a Nationwide flex account so will be taking card.

But obviously want a bit of cash when I land ( just in case) and have found Post Office and Marks and Spencers to offer the best rates.

Neither have to be ordered just go into main branch PO or M&S with a bureaux exchange in it.

(if paying by card will need passport or Driving Licence).Cash no ID required

Answer:
Never purchase Euro notes in the UK. You get charged a retail rate with commission on top. After all, someone's got to pay the wages of the person who does it.

If you take your Sterling to Euroland and sell it, you get a wholesale rate because you're restocking their supply of pounds to sell to unsuspecting Euro punters.

Using a Cirrus or Visa Debit card in an ATM when you get there’s generally the ideal approach. There are at least two in Palma airport - assuming you can find anything in Palma Airport :-( Your bank might charge you up to 5% over a commercial rate - but that's still cheaper than changing notes.

And as Atalanta says, you've still got time to open a Nationwide Flexaccount and get their Visa debit card. This gives you a straight commercial rate - no charges and no commission. You get the same deal using a Nationwide credit card abroad. And they don't pay us any commission for recommending them (come on fellas - how about a Derbyshire Building Society pencil?)

Answer:
Buy them out here from any bank. Depends on how much you’re going to take on holiday. A couple of hundred quid isn’t really enough to worry about but if it was thousands then the best way to get the money from UK to Spain is to open a stirling account in Spain and have stirling transferred.

Answer:
Buy them with your credit card in Mallorca, never in the UK. Just go to any ATM and you’ll receive the absolute best exchange rate. We go to Scotland most each year and found that’s by far the cheapest way to get pounds as well. —RN

Answer:
Cheapest way to get Euros is to take a Nationwide Bank Debit card with you, and get the money out of a wall. Nationwide advertise that they don’t charge you a fee for this.
