Art galleries, museums, shops, outdoor attractions, cheap restaurants

Answer:
I concur with ajc. Anything Gaudí. The rooftop at the Pedrera was spectacular!

Parc Güell is neat, too. I got along the wavy bench and did some abstracts based on color.

Poble Espanyol is neat. If I had thought of it at the time, I would have isolated some of the details in the buildings superior. As it was, I went in and recropped them, but they'd be better if I had shot them that way in the first place.

Also, in the Barrí Gotic, shoot for architectural detail, rather than the whole thing.

Look up, and down and shoot for details, that way, as well, the paving tiles, cornices, things like that…really good. Along the Ramblas, there are all sorts of details.

For art galleries: I was at the Picasso museum many years ago…not tremendously impressed, and we skipped it this time, and I'm regretting it, as I now comprehend that it has been massively expanded since my first trip…oh, well, something to take me back, I guess, on the next trip! We also enjoyed the Miró museum, and if you side trip to Figueres, you won't be sorry! The Dalí home and museum is INCREDIBLE AND you can take photos of the artwork inside!!!! (Highly unusual, as I'm sure you know). No flash, but you can shoot what you like without.

Restaurants were all pretty reasonable, I think. We ate at a nice place on the Ramblas, that I couldn't tell you anything more than the menus were red! :) But there was a really nice place at the mall at Port Vell, where we’d some good seafood. Eat seafood. Freshsest anywhere! And eat at the Boqueria, as well. You can get picnic food, or there are a bunch of tiny places where you can eat right there.

Any of the Gaudi stuff, it's all astonishing!!! In particular do:

Casa Mia / La Pedrera - get up onto the roof terrace in the afternoon but stay til the sun sets, the shadows and colours cast from all the twists and turns is spectacular.

Parc Guell - very quirky park in the North, loads of photographic opportunities and a nice day out!

There’s also a fountain which is lit up on weekend nights with a very colourful display, can't remember the name and we missed it unfortunately.

Have fun, Barcelona is a fantastic city, I can't wait to go back.

Tip - try chocolate and churros, local food like pastry dipped in thick hot choc, mmmmmmm, tiny shops selling them all over!

I'll second (and third) what many people have said - Barcelona has got 9 UNESCO World Heritage sites, and then some other spectacular things which aren't, but are perhaps just as good.

Also, depending on when you'll be going in March, you can save loads of money with some free entrances to Museums. See here:

I can highly reccomend the Funicular train at Parallel metro station up to Montjuic mountain, too. There are some great views of the city, and if you take the cable vehicle up to the top, too, then you'll snap away to your heart's content!

I remember the Aquarium down at the docks was REALLY good, nearish to the Christopher Columbus statue which might also be good for photography.
