For a group of high school spanish students, which city would be superior to visit?

Answer:
… just to argue both sides of the coin here, whilst it is true to a degree about the Catalan language in Barcelona, the last time that I visited Madrid I found that a very high percentage of people who I came into contact with over my stay ( IE Taxi Driver, Waiters, Bar Staff , Hotel Receptionists etc… ) were either Latin American or Eastern European, and as such I found it difficult to understand and make myself understood. This being the case I see no benefit in staying in one city over the other as far as the language is concerned.
Taking the climate, the location, the culture etc.. into account aswell I would opt for Barcelona.

Answer:
Madrid with day trips to Toledo and Segovia.

Madrid is a little disappointing in that it is a modern city by the standards of European capitals.
For example it has no ancient cathedral and no medieval streets or buildings.
It does have great museums and art galleries however and endless tapas bars. Remember they happily serve coke and tapas.
The Retiro park is fun, in an old fashioned Spanish 'paseo' sort of way, at the week end.

I prefer Barcelona but there is the language problem for students. You’re sure to pick up Catalanismos. (These are not like 'cooties' they are errors in Spanish used by Catalans. They are also harder to lose then 'cooties!! )
If you’re planning to go in the summer, Barcelona is near great beache and Madrid is just too hot.

Answer:
Barcelona is located in a region in which the primarily spoken language is “CATALONIAN”….

actually is u speak spanish the people is rude, they won't answer u, since the spanish language is seen as a cultural invasion.

if u want to practice spanish just avoid barcelona.

Answer:
Well, even though it's a beautiful city, a lot of the time the people of Barcelona talk Catalan and not Spanish - so if it's for language I would state Madrid.

Answer:
hello I’m Spanish.
I live in Madrid and Madrid is the best city in Spain. Some people in Barcelona speak Catalan, You will not comprehend their word. Furthermore, they have a Catalan accent.

Sorry about my English.
Bye
