I visited Switzerland a few years back and while we were in Burn (spelling?) we ate a dish that had what I believe was fried eggs with potatoes and i believe cheese. Anyway it was so delicious. It was very common then, does anyone know what I'm speaking about and if so know the name of the dish or have a recipe for it? That would be so great if someone knows. Thanks

Instead of the poached eggs, use fried eggs.
En guete!

I'm terribly sorry to tell you that fried eggs, potatoes and cheese don't make a typical Swiss dish. Röschti which has been mentioned is mainly to be compared to what’s know in the Anglo-Saxon world as hash browns.
If you could describe a tiny bit superior I would be pleased to aid in what you're after.
Answer:
It is Bern, and what you probably mean is “Roesti”, which is basically fried potatos and eggs. The Wikipedia can give you a recipe:

(I'm from Bavaria, Germany, and we know a similar dish here.)

edit:
Al's short lessons in German, part two:
ein Bär -> a bear
zwei Bären -> two bears
ein Bier -> a beer
zwei Bier -> two beers
in Bern -> at Bern
in der Schweiz -> in Switzerland
Bärlin -> the German capital, Berlin. They’ve a bear in their coat of arms. (Lower Saxonia [Niedersachsen] has a horse, and Bavaria has a lion.)
