My tiny one has expire date of his passport 23.05.2009 I plan to go away and return date is 02.01.2009 (1 week short out of 6 months). Will it be a trouble?
Answer:
The return date does not count. The arrival date requires a six months passport validation. So if you arrive at Malaysia before 23rd November you’ll be good to go. If not you superior get a replacing document issued.
Info copied from sourced link:
Passport required.
- Passport and/or passport replacing travel documents must be
valid at least six months on date of arrival.
Visa required, except for a stay of max. 3 months to nationals
of U.S.A.
BTW: you have miscalculated the period. By a return date of 02.01.2009 you would be 1 month and 1 week short in your terms of interpretation.
Answer:
It depends on where you are going, my sister had to renew her passport before 6 months were up to travel to Canada but my aunt travelled to Spain on a passport that was out of date only 2 days after she returned. It would be best to contact the passport office.
Answer:
It depends where you go. Most non EU countries insist on you having at least six months left on your passport.
Why not check the website of the Malaysian embassy. or call them.
