I am going on a weeks holiday in Might to Tunisia. How much money should I need? What’s their currency? I will be staying in full board accommodation.
Answer:
1 Tunisian dinar = 0.483187167 British pounds
I believe it is against Tunisian law to to import or export the currency and you can only get it there. I usually advise using credit cards if you can BUT be vary careful in the souks (markets) and only use cash there.
The amount depends on what you want to buy but I think allow, state, £50 per day.
I got this from a website:
Money: The unit of currency is the Tunisian dinar (TND), divided into 1,000 millimes. Travellers cheques are widely accepted. Banks and some hotels provide foreign exchange. ATMs are found in most towns and at all the tourist resorts; almost all will accept Visa cards and many will also accept Maestro (Switch) cards. Visa, Diners Club, American Express and MasterCard are accepted for payment in souvenir shops, upmarket hotels and restaurants, although Visa encounters the least problems. All Tunisian currency must be exchanged before departure.
Answer:
Tunisia has a closed currency and you are only able to get it in Tunisia. It is best to take Sterling and change it whilst you are there.
Tunisia is very cheap and you can pick up gifts for family and friends very cheap. I bought pottery and fabric for 5 family members and had change from £20.
Again with eating out it is very reasonable. Excursions can seem to be a lot as everything else is such a good price but the 4×4 excursion in the desert is great fun.
If you’re offered a trip into the desert it is worth paying the extra to go by 4×4 as the coach takes ages and it can be very hot and uncomfortable.
In the hotels the spa and spa treatments are extra so remember to budget for them should you want them ( a good gide is to go by our prices for massages etc and you should have change! )
Tunisia is a lovely country and you will have a great time.

How much you need depends on how much you want to purchase while you are there; presents for family etc. Also how often you will eat out, how many trips you want to go on. Hard to state really without knowing what you plan on doing.
Answer:
I'd probably take minimum £200 - I'd think about taking £350 so I’ve plenty of money for gifts, money for the airport and I'd probably be able to have the choice to do excursions if you decide you want too.
