I’m planning to take my grandaughters on their first holiday abroad. I’m sure i have heard somewhere that i will need written permission off their mum to show at the airport that we are allowed to take them. Is this true? good idea i guess if so,just don,t want to turn up and not be able to fly out.

Answer:
As a precaution, you should. Just in case some over-zealous official decides to intervene. Have fun.

Answer:
International child abduction, by other family members is a very real criminal problem, around the world.

To prevent problems at the airport departures gate, you MUST have a notarized letter of permission, from the Parent who has legal custody of the children, with the following details….

Names and ages of the kids, your name and relationship to them. The dates of travel, both going and returning. The flight information, what airline and what flight number. Destination, period of time they will be there ? Location of stay, name of hotel.

Contact name and direct phone number of Parent, and their home address. The letter must have a specific phrase that says ” I give my express permission for ” your name ” to take my children out of the country, for the time period mentioned, for a holiday”. And it should also say that ” I am the legal parent of these kids “.

Sounds like a lot of bother right ? Imagine not being able to get on the plane ? Get it done and be happy.
