I want to take a trip to mexico and iam not 18 yet, iam 17, but i have my own car. so i was wondering that on my way back when they inspect the car at the border will they ask me for a driver's license? if so, can they give me a ticket there or anything like that? i've crossed over to mexico hundreds of times before and not once have i seen them asking for a license, but then again iam under 18, but i do have a driving permit though, but an adult needs to be with me and i want to go there by myself. thanks in advance
Answer:
A new law just passed that you are required to have an ID and passport (including Mexico and Canada) when crossing borders. The CBP can't ticket, but they will have officers there who will.
Answer:
You cannot use your permit in other countries. I don't even think they care about it when you do in other says, though i'm sure they don't hassle you too much. Anyway, wether they have the jurisdiction or not doesn't matter, because they have the ability to radio someone who does. This is why you should never run from the cops, because even if you can outrun the sheriff, his dogs and his cruiser, you can’t outrun the radiowaves that call for backup and tell your vector. you'r right, they probably wont even ask, but why chance it?
Answer:
The fact that you’re even asking, tells me that you all ready KNOW the answer……….
Of course they can write you up, they ARE law enforcement officers, after all. In practical terms, they would more likely call a local county sheriff and let them charge you, and seize the automobile, too.
Do the right thing, OK ?
