Tourism is good for the economy of an area because it brings in out of town money. When tourists travel they usually spend more money on dining out, seeing attractions, hotel bills, transportation, etc than the current residents do thus increasing money brought into local businesses and attractions.

I think it would be more of an advantage to a city or an area because that extra money being brought in can help citizens financially with jobs and that money also goes to keeping the area clean and safe and prosperous.
