do most people in bridgend speak welsh at home?

Answer:
They learn welsh in bridgend as they do everywhere else in wales. But in Carmarthenshire, Cardiganshire,Gwynedd and Sir fon the majority are welsh speakers therefore the main home language in general is welsh in these counties. But you will find quite a lot of welsh speaking people in the valleys just as they are in the minority they aren't noticed as much. But ye of course you do . It's compulsory to learn welsh everywhere in wales. Just as we learn English as a second language here in South west and North west wales.

Answer:
not really. you would have to go further north to see people speaking welsh more commonly

Answer:
Having just moved out of Wales (I'm English) with our young son…..the teaching of Welsh is compulsory but it is not the prime language. English remains the prime language (Unless you are DEEP in the sticks). Our son learned the colours, counting, greetings, animals and a few other suitable subjects. He will likely never need it again but it has inspired in him a great will to learn other languages and is already seeing the similarity between some French words and the Welsh equivalent…due to the Galic (sp) roots.

So that's a very good thing IMO!

Answer:
I live in bridgend, im welsh but i dont speak it. There are people in Bridgend who speak welsh and there are welsh schools but most dont seem to speak it as not hardly any people i know do.

In non-welsh schools it compulsory ot learn welsh but what peopl dont realise is that although its compulsory you only learn to get a gcse and not to speak fluently.

i want to learn welsh always have done im looking into courses right now
