What's the most romantic, quiet, charming area of the city? I cannot decide and there are too many hotels on line.. Any idea?? My husband has never been there and I'd like to surprise him! Thankssssss
Answer:
Around Seven Dials and Covent Garden, not quiet ( no where is in London) but the most interesting and romantic area. Lots of theatre in walking distance - I would recommend the flemings hotel in Mayfair - mins from park and a walk to Buckingham palace. you can take a look and book it here www.flemings-mayfair.co.uk tel 0845 004 9393

Answer:
Pimlico? There is the most romantic restaurant in the world there called La Poule au Pot. (You'll have to book in advance), it's s French rustic food and candlelit and just the most wonderful experience ever. There are some lovely little backstreets and pubs just off Park Lane / Piccadilly with those lovely little private gardens in between (expensive to stay there though). Hyde park is nice for a walk - feed the ducks and visit the Diana Memorial Fountain. Kensington Gardens is pretty but never quiet.

I always think its very plesant to walk along the Southbank in the dusk and evening and look at the lights of the houses of parliament, big ben, westminster abbey, the london eye etc. You can also walk along the river as far as London Bridge and Borough market etc if you want. And of course if you want the arts there is teh Heywood gallery, Tate Modern, Royal Festival Hall, National Theatre, Globe Thetre all within wlaking distance.
I would recommend staying in one of the hotels in County Hall which is next to the eye - either the Marriot (http://www.marriott.co.uk/Channels/hotel… or the Preimer (http://www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelInfor…
There are good restaurants on the Cut and along the riverside at Gabriels Wharf both of which would be a short walk from the hotel
