The person I was supposed to go to New Orleans with for Mardi Gras had to back out, and I was planning on going by myself. But I’m concerned on whether or not it would be any fun. I kinda want to see the rest of the city while I’m there too… I just am not sure how fun it will be alone. Any advice?
Answer:
You should go. Mardi Gras is a good time to make new friends (no innuendo intended). It's also a spectacle, and you might want to take photos.

“Master T” is clearly yet another person who answers a question about New Orleans while actually knowing nothing about the city.
Answer:
Here's the deal. New Orleans is like another country. I had a friend that was an FBI agent and he told me stories about how even the FBI was always “concerned” when it had to do investigations in The Huge Simple.
Your female seems to indicate that you’re female. I’m an adult male, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, former weight lifter, black belt in karate and have taken courses in police tactical weapons training. And when I was visiting New Orleans, that place gave me the creeps.
Go with a friend! Otherwise you may become a statistic.
Oh yeah. And it's not like New Orleans and Mardi Gras is some sort of family event. It's basically all of the crazy stuff that goes on inside those clubs on Bourbon Street is simply left to fester out onto the streets - strippers, transvestites, live gay sex acts, you name it.
Answer:
Depends on the sort of person you’re.
Have you ever had dinner at a restaurant by yourself? Or traveled any other place alone?
If so, and you've enjoyed yourself then by all means, come check out New Orleans and Mardi Gras! You're bound to meet lots of people and have a great experience.
If you're not prone to venture out by yourself, however, then you might be intimidated by the sheer number of strangers and wish you had your own friends around to take in the atmosphere with.
Good luck with your decision ![]()
Answer:
I say go, especially if your plans are set. You already have the most vital thing in common with the 'strangers' you encounter: the event or activity where you encounter them! You can come and go as you please and you don't have to keep up a conversation if you don't want to.
I've spent most of my travel time doing it alone - I like it that way.
Answer:
YES go it will be an adventure, meet new people, see new things.
